PwnageTool 2.0.3 is out!

The iPhone Dev Team just released PwnageTool 2.0.3.  Just follow the guide for PwnageTool 2.0.2 and you should be fine.

~If you're waiting for an unlock for the 3G, then it would be better if you didn't upgrade.

QUICKPWN

~Quickpwn is a new program (in it's beta stages) that will jailbreak your iPhone without having to restore it in iTunes...in fact you don't even need to use iTunes throughout the process.

Firmware 2.0.2 Now Available In iTunes...

~You can now update your iPhone to firmware 2.0.2 in iTunes.

~Apple isn't specific on what changes were made, other than "bug fixes"

*Remember if you update your phone it won't be jailbroken anymore!!!!

*The iPhone Dev Team hasn't come out with a jailbreak update for pwnage yet...but I will let you all know when they do.

UPDATE!

~Chromium Notes has just been updated for use in winterboard.

~If you already had chromium notes on you iphone then go into Cydia and into your installed packages and remove chromium notes.  Then go to changes or all packages and re-install it.  This way you can toggle chromium notes on or off in winterboard.

Winpwn 2.0.0.4 Guide

Well guys here it is!

Step 1:
Download Winpwn 2.0.0.4 from here: Winpwn.com


Step 2:
Make sure you have iTunes 7.7 installed on you computer


Step 3:
If you are going to unlock your phone for another carrier you'll need these boot images: 3.9 & 4.6
(if you are just jailbreaking, I don't think you will need these files)


Step 4:
If you didn't already update you iphone, then you can download the 2.0.1 firmware from here or here


Step 5:
Install Winpwn and extract the bootloaders and firmware to your desktop.


Step 6:
Connect you iPhone to you computer and open winpwn. This will be the screen that pops up:

Step 7:
Click Browse.ipsw and select the firmware that you have just downloaded from the links above.

Step 8:
Click IPSW Builder and you will be presented with this screen:

On the screen above under the applications tab you need to check the box for Cydia. If you want Installer you can check that also, but it is still in beta and very unstable.
*ONLY CHECK YOUTUBE ACTIVATION FIX IF YOU DON'T HAVE AT&T AS A CARRIER* (leave it unchecked if you do have AT&T)

Step 9:
Click the custom images tab. If you check use custom logos, it will use the logos shown for boot and recovery. If you don't check custom logos, then the standard Apple logos will stay on your phone.

Step 10:
Skip the custom payload tab. Click on the advanced tab.
(IF YOU HAVE AT&T MAKE SURE EVERY BOX IS UNCHECKED!!!!!!!)
~if you do not have a carrier check activate phone, enable basband update, unlock baseband, autodelete bootneuter.app)
~Click the two bootloader buttons and choose the corresponding files for each one (the 3.9 & 4.9 you downloaded in the beginning)

*AGAIN, LEAVE EVERYTHING UNCHECKED IF YOU ALREADY HAVE AT&T!!!!*

Step 11:
Partition Resizer. Move this to 550MB

Step 12:
Click Build.ipsw at the bottom left of the window. Save the file to the desktop (or somwhere you can easily find it)
~After you click the Build.ipsw and save the file--shortly this window will pop up: Click OK.

Step 13:
Click iPwner and select the custom firmware file you just made.

Once you select the custom firmware and click open you will be presented with this message:

Click OK.

Step 14:

Open iTunes.

Step 15:

You now have to place your phone into DFU Mode.

~Here are the steps to do that~

• Power down your iPhone.
• Once your iPhone is off, hold down the sleep/wake button and home button together for exactly 10 seconds.
• After 10 seconds release just the sleep/wake button, but continue to hold the home button for another 10 seconds or until you see a message in iTunes that says "waiting for iPod" or something along those lines.  You may have to keep the home button pressed longer than 10 seconds so just wait till you get a message from iTunes then let go.
• Your phone is now in DFU Mode.  iTunes will post a message recognizing that your phone is in recovery mode.
  

*IN DFU MODE YOUR PHONE'S SCREEN WILL BE BLANK*

*IF IT SHOWS THE RECOVERY LOGO, THEN YOU ARE NOT IN DFU MODE AND HAVE TO START THE DFU PROCESS OVER AGAIN*

Step 16:

If you are correctly into DFU Mode, then hold shift and click on restore.

Find and choose the custom firmware file you made with Winpwn and click open.

iTunes will then start restoring your phone with the custom firmware that you made.

When iTunes has done it's thing, it will ask you if you want to restore from a backup or start as a new phone.  YOU WANT TO START AS A NEW PHONE!!!!

*IF YOU ARE UNLOCKING YOUR PHONE FOR A DIFFERENT CARRIER, DURING THE ITUNES RESTORE YOU WILL SEE YOUR PHONE DOING SOME STUFF WITH THE BOOTNEUTER AND BOOTLOADER---THESE STEPS MAY TAKE A WHILE SO JUST LET IT DO IT'S THING---DO NOT INTERRUPT IT!!!!

NO NO NO TO ZIPHONE

~If you've ever come across an iPhone jailbreak and unlocking program called ZiPhone, don't ever use it!!!!  It will most likely mess up your phone and make it unusable.

~Plus, the author, Zibri is an ass who copies peoples' software!

~Always use PwnageTool, Winpwn, or Xpwn~

Sorry for not posting the winpwn guide yet...It will be up tonight...just haven't had the chance the past two night to do it.

~Also if you have chromium on your iphone (downloaded from cydia) do not upgrade until the message on the cydia main page says to!!! Trust me...I made the mistake of updating chromium and I had to restore in iTunes. It seems to be a problem only with iglossy keyboard and just the chromium theme v.1.3.

~Will keep ya posted!!

PwnageTool 2.0.2 Jailbreak Guide

Welcome

I am going to show today how to jailbreak your iphone using PwnageTool 2.0.2.

So let's get started!!

Step 1:  Download PwnageTool 2.0.2 from

http://blog.iphone-dev.org  there are 3 links to download the file from on that page.

Step 2:  Install PwnageTool

Step 3:  Open pwnage tool

~Choose expert mode

~Then choose either iphone, ipod touch, or iphone 3g.

**iPHONE 3G CANNOT BE UNLOCKED AS OF NOW!!!!!!

 ~Click the blue and 

white arrow button.

Step 3:  Browse for IPSW

~PwnageTool will automatically browse for the file you updated in iTunes (if it doesn't find the file for you go to:  

finder/user/library/itunes/iphone software update/)

~Click the arrow.

Step 4:  You will come to this screen

~Click the general tab and then the arrow.

Step 5:  General Settings

~If AT&T is already your carrier the make sure the box for Activate Phone is unchecked.  If you want to unlock your phone to use with another carrier (i.e. T-Mobile) then check the Activate Phone box.

~Click the arrow.

Step 6:  Bootneuter Settings

~Again if you already have a contract with AT&T then uncheck the Neuter bootloader box.  If you need to unlock your phone for a different carrier then check the Neuter bootloader box.

~Click the arrow.

Step 7:  You'll come to a page that says Cydia Settings---just click the arrow to go to the next page.

Step 8:  Custom Package Settings 

~On this page you can choose if you want Cydia Installer or Installer 4.0 on your iphone or both.  (I chose to uncheck Installer 4.0 because it's only a beta version and I heard it's kinda buggy-plus you can't really do much with it at the moment, but it's all up to you).

~Click the arrow.

Step 9:  Custom Logo Settings

~Here you can change the boot and recovery logos.  If you don't want the logos that show on this page then uncheck the boxes to have the original apple boot and recovery logos.

~Click the arrow.

Step 10:  Back to the screen from step 4

~You now want to click the build button then the arrow.  

~This will start building the custom ipsw that you will use to restore to.  A message will pop up asking where you want to save the file to.  Choose desktop...it's the easiest to find later on.

Step 11:  Building IPSW

Step 12:  Your computer will ask you for your name & password.  (Name should come up automatically so just type in your admin. password)

~Click OK.

Step 13:  A message will come up saying "Has your iphone been Pwned before?" (I always click no just to be on the safe side...even if it has been pwned before and you click no...it doesn't matter) so click NO. 

Step 14:  After you select no, this next screen will appear

~Now be ready.  This next part is a little tricky and requires some timing...I can't show any pictures because this next part will show you how to put your phone into DFU mode and I already have my phone pwned so I can't go back into DFU mode or it will erase everything.  But I will explain what to expect:  

~Connect the device to a USB port.

~Click the arrow (it might go to the next part automatically for you)

~It will tell you to turn your phone off.

~After that it will say you need to be in DFU mode, and it will tell you how to do that.

~It says that you have to be ready to hold down the Home Button on your phone and the Sleep/Wake Button.

~A timer will count to 5 and when it gets to five, hold down the Home Button and the Sleep/Wake Button for 10 seconds...It will guide you through that with another timer counting to 10.

~Immediately after it gets to 10, release the Sleep/Wake Button!  But continue to hold the Home Button for another 10 seconds.

~A page will pop up saying you have successfully put your phone into DFU mode.  **YOUR SCREEN WILL BE BLACK IN DFU MODE**  If you see the connect to iTunes restore logo...then you did it wrong and aren't in DFU mode.

~It will tell you to close PwnageTool and open iTunes.  A message will come up in iTunes that says your phone is in restore mode and it needs to be restored in order to work in iTunes.  Click OK on that message.

~Hold the Option Key and click on restore.  Find the custom package you built and click open.

~Your iPhone will go through the restoring process like normal.

~When that is done, set up your iphone as a new iphone!  Then sync what ever apps, info, music, videos, podcasts you want.

**If you chose to unlock your phone for use with a different carrier, then let bootneuter and bootloader do their things...IT MAY TAKE A WHILE BEFORE YOU GET TO THE SCREEN TO SET UP YOU IPHONE AS A NEW IPHONE.  DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO YOUR PHONE DURING THE BOOTNEUTER, BOOTLOADER, OR FLASHING BASEBAND OR YOU WILL END UP WITH A BRICKED IPHONE!!!!  **REMEMBER IT MAKE TAKE A WHILE**

Pwnage 2.0.2 is out!!!!

Finally pwnage tool 2.0.2 is out!!!!

I recommend downloading from the link at the iphone dev team's blog, because there seems to be some problems with the update button in pwnage 2.0.1....  Here is the link the their site: http://blog.iphone-dev.org

I will quickly go through what I did to update my phone...of course you can do it differently if you desire!

~First I update my jailbroken iphone in iTunes from 2.0 to 2.0.1 (click UPDATE not RESTORE)

~After that I opened pwnage tool and built my custom ipsw with the 2.0.1 firmware.

~Went into DFU mode and restored my phone in iTunes with the custom 2.0.1 firmware.

~Then when it was done I registered as a new iphone...(not sure if you can restore to a backup or not so I didn't take the chance)  my contacts are on my computer and on mobile me so it really didn't matter what I did since I can sync them right back on anyways...

I will be putting up a tutorial on Pwnage Tool shortly...The reason I will do this is because a lot of the tutorials are sometimes hard to understand so I will describe everything.
