I love my jailbroken iphone. But, like an idiot, I updated my phone to the new 2.0.1 firmware. I spent all day trying to downgrade back to 2.0 so that I could be jailbroken again and wait until the iphone dev team updates pwnage tool. What a long day I had!
So I will just post what I did to get back to (successfully) 2.0.
Here it goes:
I didn't have the ipsw 2.0 on my computer so I tried to download it. I made the mistake of downloading it using Safari (that's a no-no so I hear-try firefox or IE).
My pwnage tool on my mac wasn't cooperating with me so I decided to use my pc.
First I downloaded Winpwn from here: Winpwn
Then made sure I had iTunes 7.7---I didn't have it updated because I never use the pc so I updated.
I downloaded the original 2.0 software from these links: here
Once I had all of that ready I went to http://sleepers.net/news/
Clicked the link on the left that said Winpwn 2.0 guide and followed that completely.
The only thing I did different was after I made the custom firmware I restore to original 2.0 through iTunes first (the one I downloaded)
Then I restore again using the custom firmware that is made in Winpwn (don't know if the step before makes a difference, but I did it just to be safe.
So now I have my jailbroken phone back with cydia and my themes and boss prefs and everything else!!!! so I'm happy.

One more thing: I didn't find that much of a difference using 2.0.1...The contacts are faster by about a second if that. I really didn't have any problems with 2.0 anyways. Once I had jailbroken my phone the problems seemed to go away anyways. I just made sure to stay updated as much as possible.

Thanks for the tutorial... I just updated my iPhone 3G, and didn't realize I wouldn't be able to JailBreak it afterwards. The only critique I have is that on your link to sleepers.net, it tries to send me to sleeper.net, intead of sleeperS.net

I have a 2g i phone...that's what I used...but I believe it should be fine with 3g also...thanks for the comments everyone!
I don't know if you can help me but I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask..I had my iphone (2g) with 2.0 firmware unlocked but, after downloading a free application, it ended up freezing for some reason. I tried making it go into DFU mode, turning it off but nothing seemed to work. Therefore, I decided to restore my iphone but after doing it I ended up with iTunes asking me to Activate my iPhone! the problem is that I bought my iphone on the internet and never had an AT&T contract (I was using T-Mobile) so I have no idea how to activate it again. Could anyone help me??? I will really appreciate any help!!!! Thanks a lot everyone in advance!

Hi, just wanted to share something with all the fraked ones who got error(6) while trying to restore.
I've been trying for two days to put my Iphone 2G in DFU mode and while restoring it got the error(6).
Finally I realized what was wrong and wanted to share with you all.
Make sure when you hold down power and home buttons that is not for too much time. If you hold it for too long the phone enters into RESTORE mode and not DFU mode.
MAKE SURE THE PHONE IS RECOGNIZED BY THE PC THROUGH THE USB PORT BUT SCREEN MUST REMAIN BLACK !!!
IF THE ITUNES AND USB LOGO APPEAR IN THE SCREEN TRY AGAIN.
Besides that it the restore went fine and I got my 2G back on 1.2.0
Now I know the trick I will uninstall winpwn 2.0.3 and go for 2.0.4 and update my firmware to 2.0.1

I actually thought that my Iphone was worth nothing until I came across a discussion between you and lonleywhiteboy. I linked up to your blog and sent the link to the technician who was suppose to be unlocking my iphone with v2.01 (2g) He is a standup guy however he was finding dificult. But with your blog and links he managed...end result,, I got my iphone back with ver 2.01 installed a bill of about 60 euros. But best of all I'm going fishing tomorrow morning!!!!!!

HELP!! Hi there...i'm in a total rut ( i think) I upgraded my unlocked jailbroken iphone2nd gen fron 1.1.4 to 2.0.2! You can imagine the results, i now have a fone that wont go past emergency dialing only and no access to any other part of my iphone!I have an unsupported sin and no carrier according to itunes and can do nothing! My phone was bought in dubai duty free uncloaked! Plz help! I am desperate!!!

Have a USA iphone 2g, activated on ziphone to 1.1.1 and all coolon an 02 sim. my son by mistake updated to official 2.0 in itunes and bricked it! I pwned to 2.0.1 and got everything but a network signal, ive re-pwned using activate and also unclicked activate, still no signal, ive done this loads now and want to thro my phone down the toilets... any one else with same prob? To Big Disco: YOU SHOULD NEVER USE ZIPHONE!!!.....I can't stress that enough!...It will mess up your phone eventually...stick with pwnagetool for mac or winpwn for pc
Anyways here's what you should do. Download either pwnagetool or winpwn. Restore and update your iphone to the firmware apple provides (unjailbroken)-should be 2.0.2 now I believe.....Then follow my guides for pwnagetool or winpwn...and create a custom ipsw to restore to.....(In pwnagetool make sure activate and all bootneuter and bootloader boxes are checked) (In winpwn make sure YouTube activation is checked...any questions I'm on AIM--ALLizonANikon...........Good Luck
